Sunway REIT’s net property income (NPI) for the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2016 rose 6.8% year-on-year thanks to the resilient performance from its retail segment. NPI for the quarter stood at RM96.07 million compared with RM89.94 million previously.

KC Yeow no longer a substantial shareholder in Yinson

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 27): Datuk Yeow Kheng Chew has ceased to be a substantial shareholder of Yinson Holdings Bhd, after disposing of 101.77 million shares, which represented some 9.33% in the company, based on its outstanding shares.

In a bourse filing, Yinson said the shares were disposed of by Yeow via Trinity View Sdn Bhd, in which Yeow had direct interest.

It is learnt that Yeow had disposed of the shares mainly to local institutions. The shares were believed to have been sold at RM3 per share.

US FCC approves new broadband service privacy rules

WASHINGTON (Oct 27): The US Federal Communications Commission on Thursday voted 3-2 to adopt new privacy rules that will subject broadband internet service providers to more stringent requirements than websites like Facebook Inc, Twitter Inc or Alphabet Inc’s Google.

The rules will force companies like AT&T Inc, Verizon Communications Inc and Comcast Corp to get consumer consent before using some user data for advertising and internal marketing.

WASHINGTON (Oct 27): The U.S. Justice Department charged 61 people on Thursday with taking part in a scam involving India-based call centres, where people impersonated Internal Revenue Service, immigration and other federal officials and demanded payments for non-existent debts.

The scam, which had operated since 2013, targeted at least 15,000 people who lost more than US$300 million, the department said in a statement.

Barclays CEO says finger not ‘quivering’ over the Brexit button

(Oct 27): Barclays Plc Chief Executive Officer Jes Staley said his finger isn’t “quivering” above the Brexit relocation button, just hours after a U.K. trade minister said firms will probably lose their passporting rights to sell services across the European Union.

Staley told reporters on Thursday that there would be no “one momentous decision with a great press conference,” but rather London-based Barclays will “make incremental steps”, following Britain’s vote to leave the European Union. “I wouldn’t say our finger is quivering,” he said.

Hess awards UMW Oil & Gas contract for drilling rig services

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 27): UMW Oil & Gas Corp Bhd (UMW-OG) has bagged a contract from energy firm Hess Exploration and Production Malaysia BV of the Netherlands to provide drilling rig services for the North Malay Basin in the country.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, UMW-OG said its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary UMW Offshore Drilling Sdn Bhd has received a letter of award from Hess for the contract. However, the contract amount was not disclosed.
