KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) is appointing Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir as its new managing director and chief executive effective June 1.

According to a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the firm said he will take over from Datuk Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, who is resigning.

Syed Zainal Abidin is currently vice president, marketing, downstream business at Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas).

He is also chairman and director of various subsidiaries within the Petronas Group.



He has sat on the boards of RHB Bank, Proton Group and Perodua.

At RHB Bank, he was an independent director. He was the group managing director of Proton Holdings Bhd and also deputy managing director of Perodua.
